Smiley, Smile
A smilie (sometimes written smiley) is an icon that depicts an abstract representation
of a human face. A smiley may appear to be smiling (hence the name),
or it may appear to be frowning (contrary to the name).
Smileys are examples of images which, as a group, are sometimes
called emoticons because their iconic expressions convey
emotions such as happiness, acceptance, unhappiness, or rejection.
